City Forest
The City Forest (Nagar Van) in Ramnagar Forest Division is a beautiful natural oasis that offers visitors a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature. The City Forest is a vast expanse of greenery that is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including several bird species. Visitors to the forest can indulge in a range of eco-friendly activities, such as nature walks, bird watching etc.
It expands over 17 hectare of forest land of the Ramnagar Forest Division which comprises of various small thematic gardens including Navgraha Vatika, Nakshatra Vatika, Public Health Garden, Panchvati Vatika, Miyawaki Forest, Pollinator Park and Lotus Garden.

Navgraha Vatika is based on the plantation of nine plant species which denote nine planets(graha) i.e. Surya-Aak, Chandra-Dhak, Mangal-Khair, Budh- Latjeera, Brahaspati-Peepal, Shukra- Gular, Shani-Chhayokar, Rahu- Doob and Ketu- Kush. The Aak plant denoting Surya (Sun) is planted at the center and other eight species are planted around it in a circular manner. .
According to ancient Indian beliefs, the sky above the Earth has been divided into twenty seven equal parts and each part of it is called a constellation (Nakshatra). The Nakshatra Vatika is based on the plantation of 27 plant species which denote 27 constellations. Each person has his own birth constellation and harming any plant species related to his birth constellation has been prohibited as mentioned in mythological literatures. .
The public health garden includes more than 50 species of different medicinal plants which are planted in a circular manner. The visitors can know about these medicinal plants as well as there is a space for yoga/relaxing inside this garden..
The Miyawaki forest is based on the concept of planting only the native species which are planted very close to each other developing into a very dense forest in a short time. The visitors can have a look into this concept of the forest in the Nagar Van..
The Panchvati Vatika is based on the plantation of five different tree species which denote the five elements of the environment. These trees species are Peepal, Bargad, Bel, Sita Ashok and Amla..
Authorities may cancel the permit for good and sufficient reasons. The decision of Divisional Forest Officer, Ramnagar Forest Division, Ramnagar would be final in this regard.- It is the responsibility of the visitor to follow all the relevant rules and regulations. Any infringement of the rules and regulations would invite punishment.
Cooking, throwing of bottles & plastic material is prohibited in the City Forest area.- Drinking or carrying liquor is strictly prohibited. Checking of vehicle for arms, liquor can be done while issuing the permit or at the entry gates.
- Use of Polythene-bags is strictly prohibited. Visitors are required to carry a non-polythene litter bag with them and use it to bring back all their litter, whether biodegradable or non- biodegradable (tin-cans, plastic, glass bottles, metal foils etc.) outside the area.
- Smoking in public places and lightning of any kind of fire is prohibited.
- Playing of radio and other sound producing devices is prohibited.
- Entry into the restricted zone is prohibited.
